I have the pleasure of hosting Zlamushka's Tried and Tasted. Tried and Tasted is a food blogging event where a beautiful blog is chosen as blog of the month.

It is "a monthly event of appreciation of other blogs - an opportunity to thank your fellow bloggers for sharing their recipes by re-creating them. Peek into their kitchen to see what’s cooking and go for it! Take it, make it and say it!"

This month, Hooked on Heat is the Blog of the month which will be Tried and Tasted. The author is Meena, a fellow Canadian, who lives in Mississauga, Ontario.

Her blog is about simple, everyday modern Indian cooking. Don't let the blog name scare you off. Her chicken noodle soup is not that hot. In fact, I would say it is a good introduction to Meena's modern Indian cooking. If this recipe isn't a proof of Canadian multi-cultural life, I don't know what is. It is an Indian interpretation of a Vietnamese recipe.

For newbies or those who are Tabula Rasa regarding Indian cooking, Hooked on Heat is the perfect introduction to the sub-continent's varied cuisine. Go to Meena's Cooking 101 and get started. Meena teaches cooking and will guide you surely and make it an enjoyable learning experience. You'll be a good Indian cook in next to no time. Go ahead! Try Meena's recipe.

For those who are experienced in Indian cooking, well, there is always something new to learn and I am sure you will pick up some tips or ideas from Meena. It is good to try someone else's cooking too.

Try a recipe or two and post about it for Tried and Tasted.

1. Cook any recipe(s) from Hooked on Heat and post about it. Stay as true to the original recipe(s) as possible. Therefore, there is no need for re-posting it, simply link to the original post :-)
   
1. There is no time-frame for the original recipe. It can be as old as my grand-mother or as fresh as a mung bean sprout.
2. Have you cooked from Meena before? As this event is all about tasting and reflecting on the taste, older posts are also welcome. Simply link to this post and mention T&T event.
   
2. Link your post to HERE (feel free to use the logo) and to the original post. Please always link to both sites, so both blogs are given credit and you are avoiding copyright fuss.
   
3. Send me an e-mail (kitschow@gmail.com) with your name, your post URL as well as the original URL and a picture (600px by height, please).
4. Deadline is the June 30, 2009 but I'll accept entries until the round up which will be posted within a week.

Non-bloggers are more than welcome to participate (after all, our posts are mainly being written for them). Simply e-mail me (kitschow@gmail.com) with your experience of what you cooked and please include a picture.

The round up will be posted during the first week in July.

Readers of Meena's blog may have noticed that she hasn't blogged since December 2008. There is a reason - Meena was writing a cookbook! Her cookbook will be available in January 2010.

I am buying a copy of Meena's cookbook for a participant in Tried and Tasted. I'm using the Random Integer Generator to choose a winner, who will receive the book next year.

The winner will be announced a week after the roundup is posted (just in case I have missed any posts).
